The 40 Most Hilarious One-Liners from 'Schitt's Creek'

You've come to this article because you're either in love with schitt's creek or know someone who can't stop quoting catherine o'hara 's iconic character, moira rose. creek The emmy-winning canadian show is, after all, a gold mine of sharp one liners, heartwarming storylines, and downright hilarious plot twists. And now that the entire six-season series is on netflix , more and more people are discovering the comedic magic that catherine, eugene levy, dan levy , and annie murphy created while portraying the rose family.

The sass of David is everything.

There are some moods words simply cannot describe, and when any schitt's creek fan is feeling that certain type of way, they know exactly who to turn to: david rose. The spoiled rich kid-turned-lovestruck townie became an unlikely source of relatable quotes, facial expressions, and mannerisms when schitt's creek shot to popularity, and he remains the king of reaction gifs to this day. schitts So, the next time you're in need of some sass, look no further than these schitt's creek david memes.

This line from david is so sassy and funny that it's hard to believe anyone on the internet wouldn't laugh at it. It's just the david rose way of saying, "i wish you the absolute worst!" used as an insult, this meme has circulated around social media many times. It's great for comebacks, especially during heated arguments, but it also sparks a good laugh when you're taunting your friends. Who wouldn't want to be told they're being annoying by david rose? the comebacks the characters say on this show are absolute gold.

You didn't think we'd get through this list without putting at least one, "Ew, David!" on here, did you?

It would be tempting to only list moira’s at times outrageous, beautiful, perfect and ludicrous outfits in this category. Who can forget the garbage bag ensemble she wore when she accidentally ended up on a photo shoot with a hot-shot new york photographer and former lover of david? but to leave out johnny’s impeccable suits, or david’s black and white designer ensembles with his penchant for jumpers – even in summer – or alexis’s representation of the coachella generation would be remiss. So watch out for those, and for all the designer nudges too. More than once, i found myself googling an alexis dress (i couldn’t afford any of them).

Levy always knew that he wanted to write something incorporating tina turner’s “the best. ” he couldn’t imagine the cultural moment it would become. He scripted a scene in which patrick reveals his true feelings to david by singing an acoustic version of the song at an open mic night, the kind of grand gesture that david would ordinarily have cringed at were it not so rooted in genuine emotion. Reid actually crafted the stripped-down arrangement of the song himself. A few weeks before the shoot, and nervous that reid had forgotten his assignment, levy texted him for an update. He sent back an mp3 recorded in his living room. It was the middle of the night, and levy was in bed when he first listened to it. He began sobbing.

Dec 10, 2020 schitt's creek may have bid adieu in 2020 after six sweetly-hilarious seasons, but the endlessly quotable feel-good tv show starring catherine o'hara, annie murphy, and father-son creators and stars eugene and dan levy will live in our hearts forever. While frequent netflix comfort-rewatches can bring fans right back to the fictional canadian town, a few of the gift ideas on this list might even make you feel like you live there, too. Channel your inner stevie with this rosebud motel keychain. Or, pretend you just popped by to see patrick and david in your rose apothecary sweatshirt. And with this the crows have eyes 3: the crowening shirt, it's as if you actually attended the film's bird-swarmed premiere.

Dan levy made me cry. If i’m being honest, levy’s schitt’s creek character, david rose, is the one who had me sobbing while watching what i thought was a reliable source of lols. When i was assigned to interview levy about the show’s fourth season, i was excited to get to watch episodes in advance (#journalistperks). In episode 6, which aired on february 27 on cbc, david’s super-sweet boyfriend, patrick (noah reid) suggests that they host an open mic night at their shop, rose apothecary, to attract more local clients. Whilst watching, i instantly predicted that david would be embarrassed by the idea and that i’d sit back and laugh at the beloved business partners-turned-boyfriends proceeding with marketing their artisanal goods to the townsfolk, business as usj. Instead, patrick takes centre stage at the event. His acoustic performance of tina turner’s “simply the best,” coupled with david’s wordless reaction, had me in a puddle of tears.

The best part of the show?

What good is a small-town comedy without the weird and wonderful folks who inhabit it? much like parks and recreation, schitt’s creek wouldn’t work without its eclectic cast of characters. The most recognizable is chris elliott’s infuriating mayor roland schitt, but there’s also david’s practically perfect business partner patrick (noah reid); stevie budd (emily hampshire), david’s best buddy and the surly and sarcastic motel owner; twyla (sarah levy — yes, that levy), the sweetly odd waitress at the cafe; town council member ronnie (karen robinson), who is no nonsense and also appreciates a good fur coat; and ray (rizwan manji), the town’s realtor-slash-photographer. Schitt’s creek also leads the way in making veterinarians hot again with kindhearted and handsome ted mullens (dustin milligan). Meanwhile, the unsung hero of this show is jennifer robertson’s jocelyn schitt, high-school teacher, head of the jazzagals, and wife to roland. She’s sweet and perky, but has a hilarious edge. Any time robertson and o’hara share a scene, it is a delight.

© pop 1. Fans of mtv's the hills likely remember dan as the co-host of the live after show, and in a 2015 interview with out magazine, dan revealed reality tv inspired schitt's creek. "it really just started with me being in los angeles, knowing that i wanted to write," he explained. "i had been watching some reality tv at the time and was concentrating on what would happen if one of these wealthy families would lose everything. Would the kardashians still be the kardashians without their money?" 2. The concept of johnny rose buying a small town was inspired by a real celebrity: kim basinger buying a town in georgia in 1989. 3. While he had never turned to his famous father for help prior, dan told variety he decided to ask eugene to partner with him on the series. "i went to him with this idea of a wealthy family losing their money and said, 'do you want to work on this with me?" and he said, 'yes,'" dan recalled, "which i think was something he was hoping would happen a lot earlier. ".

The premise of this show -- particularly the first season -- owes a debt to, of all things, "gilligan's island," which also featured a band of entitled persons trapped in an environment from which they could not escape. Like the castaways of that beloved sitcom, the rose family struggles to invent routes for departure that never come to pass. The thirteenth episode of season one ("town for sale") epitomizes the concept: at the outset, the rose family is delightedly packing for what they believe will be their long-awaited reprieve, only to find their dreams have gone up in smoke half an hour later.

Not only is this the episode that marks the start of david and patrick’s relationship but also the relationship between alexis and moira. Both are monumental moments in the show’s history that really can’t be discredited. First off, we have david realizing that he now has people in his life that care about his birthday and want to celebrate it with him. Through the course of this realization, david also realizes that his business partner has some really big feelings for him.

“you’re going to laugh yourself right out of the closet with this one. ” in any other comedy, a moment as important as patrick coming out to his parents could be the emotional apex of the show. Dan levy has always strived to fill the show with love and watching david develop this easy chemistry with patrick in season four has taken fans’ obsession for the show to another level. In the episode, david plans a surprise party for patrick and when johnny assumes that patrick’s parents know about david and patrick’s relationship, david has to break the surprise to patrick before the party. You can’t help but put yourself in patrick’s shoes when he nervously tells david that his parents are “good people” but he still worries they may see him differently. The audience finds out patrick’s parents didn’t care that he was gay before patrick does, but it’s still an emotional hurdle that patrick needs to get over. Patrick’s “coming out” to his parents brings his family closer together. It’s another classic schitt’s creek scene that has you laughing through a choked-up throat as patrick and david dance.

The duke and duchess of sussex have formally liquidated one of their sole-remaining british companies, marking the final nail in the coffin for sussex royal. Documents filed with companies house revealed that mwx trading confirmed on may 5 that it was winding up and a liquidator was appointed on may 14. The couple established the company in august 2019, naming their lawyer, gerrard tyrrell, as its secretary and natalie campbell, who worked for their charitable foundation sussex royal, as director. They registered it at companies house and used the business to apply for trademarks. Ms campbell and mr tyrrell were later replaced by james holt, the couple’s former head of communications who was recently appointed executive director of their archewell foundation and is relocating to the us. The duke and duchess are also in the process of liquidating the company formerly known as sussex royal, the telegraph understands. When the couple announced they were stepping back from their roles as working members of the royal family they were told they could no longer use the name, and so changed it last july to mwx foundation. Despite reports suggesting that mwx stood for markle windsor or mountbatten windsor, using the x from sussex, sources claimed the name was just created from random letters and had no special significance. Sussex royal was announced with much fanfare in july 2019, shortly after it was confirmed that the sussexes were breaking away from the royal foundation, the charitable vehicle they had shared with the duke and duchess of cambridge. Company accounts revealed last year that it had £99,000 in the bank and would cost £16,000 to wind down. They also showed that the charity was owed £200,000 from an unidentified source. Accounts for the mwx foundation, of which the duke remains sole director, reveal that the £200,000 has now been repaid. The moves to formally wind up both companies come as the sussexes continue to sign lucrative deals with business partners in the us via their new us-based archewell foundation, most recently announcing a partnership with consumer goods giant proctor & gamble.

When a new canadian sitcom starring eugene levy and catherine o'hara dropped back in 2015, we hoped for instant buzz. With comedy classics like best in show, a mighty wind, and for your consideration already under their belt, the levy-o'hara comedy duo had more than proved their talent and effortless, natural ability to play off of one another. Instead, schitt's creek followed the path of other canadian sleeper hits like trailer park boys and letterkenny , only rising to cult-favorite status partway through its six-season run on pop tv. With the series wrapping up in april 2020 (and the first five seasons available on netflix ), it's as good a time as any to reminisce.

20 Episodes of ‘Schitt’s Creek’ That are Simply the Best

Of course i have to include one of the top david/patrick moments, with the latter’s swoony rendition of tina turner’s “the best” at rose apothecary’s inaugural open mic night. Not simply because of how sweet it is, but how unexpected, even four seasons in. Having watched david fumble his way through hookups in schitt’s creek, and having learned (in episodes like 3×10 “sebastien raine”) how bleak his love life was before, the audience is ready for patrick’s performance to be as embarrassing as david seems to believe it will be. But instead, as patrick stuns the room, we watch david rendered speechless, then softened, then truly moved. Even more shocking is that moira is, too.

4. Finding David (Season 2 Episode 1)

Schitt's creek is a comedy, —that's something no one can deny — but it's also extremely emotional. Though the show brings out the full belly laughter every single episode, it also includes more than few poignant scenes, that can start the waterworks. (i mean alexis rose and ted mullens at the diner in the finale season, come on!!) but what is unique about the show is that the writers and actors have a knack for combining both of those things into one moment. Such was the case with david rose's now infamous sexy tina turner lip sync.

Leading off the list is a season four episode. That particular season is quite the favorite amongst fans, and makes up most of the top ten episodes. In “the barbecue,” the roses discover david and patrick’s four month anniversary is approaching and want to do something special. Though david prefers to self-sabotage and avoid patrick interacting with his family, patrick accepts their invitation to a barbecue. Little does anyone know that alexis’ guest happens to be patrick’s ex-girlfriend. The episode delivers a comedy of errors that demonstrates how much the family cares about one another, even when they cause each other grief.

During the filming of season 1, hampshire mentioned to dan that sally bowles was her dream character to play, and if they ever did a musical episode, she hoped it would be cabaret. Obviously, that worked out, and it led even led to another bonus fact: the shot of david saying "that's my friend" after stevie sang "maybe this time" is now one of hampshire's favorite moments of the entire series.

Episode 5, “crows premiere” the dress makes a comeback as moira prepares for the crows have eyes 3 premiere that being held in schitt’s creek before streaming on interflix. The episode sets the course for the remainder of the season with moira experiencing a return to the red carpet, johnny joins forces with roland and stevie for their commitment to expanding the motel business, and david and patrick find out that there are a few conversational stones unturned in their relationship.

The off-camera chemistry between the stars of the show has to be one for the books because their chemistry on camera is amazing. I don't think i'm alone when i say i would love to be a fly on the wall during one of their table readings. From the mother and son relationship between moira and david to the wife and husband relationship between moira and johnny, and we can't forget about david's hilariously realistic connection with alexis, it's safe to say the rose household is one that is hilarious even when they're not trying. In one episode from season two, moira attempted to put on her nurturing hat and pass down a recipe from her mother to david. But things take a turn when david or moira don't know what "fold in the cheese" means. Clearly these two didn't cook a decent meal in their lives as the rich and famous. And it's fun to see them try to adjust together.

Season 1, episode 1. "what kind of sociopath abandons her family in some vomit-soaked dump to galavant around the world with her dumb, shipping-heir, loser boyfriend she's known for three months?!" david screams at alexis, upon learning that she's jumping ship to be with stavros.

‘Schitt’s Creek’: Why Did Dan Levy Choose the Song ‘Simply the Best’ for Patrick to Sing?

Greg david using a song to amp up a scene is tricky business. The wrong one can lead to a disconnect and snap the viewer right out of it. But when it’s done right, it can inspire, create emotion and become something iconic. Schitt’s creek did the latter last tuesday when patrick (noah reid) performed “simply the best” to david (daniel levy) during an open mic night at rose apothecary. The stripped-down, acoustic version of the tina turner classic was easily the most talked about scene of season 4 and elevated patrick and david’s relationship to something truly special, a fact reid is still amazed and gratified by a week later.

Related: ‘schitt’s creek’ star annie murphy explains her ‘weird connection’ with creator/co-star dan levy but before david lip-synced to “simply the best,” patrick sang an acoustic version of the song to david. Why did levy choose that tina turner bop in the first place? “i’ve always thought it was one of the most beautifully written pop songs in history,” the schitt’s creek co-creator revealed. It doesn’t always stand out in that way, but levy always had a special place in his heart for “simply the best,” as he told gq:.
