After losing everything they had, alexis and david, in particular, couldn’t rely on their parents for money or their friends’ connections. They had to rely on themselves. After alexis graduated from high school and focused on college, she realized she wanted to stay in the entertainment industry and work in public relations. With her mother being an actress, alexis focused on promoting her mother’s career and making her a star again. Likewise, david knew that working at a place like the blouse barn wasn’t for him. He followed his heart and used all of his money to open his own general store called rose apothecary. If it weren’t for the people of schitt’s creek inspiring them and low-key teaching them, who knows if alexis and david would have become the personal successes they did.

This whole schitt’s creek season six has been leading us to this heartbreaking, inescapable moment. The rose clan finally leaves the seldom-named town, and neither they nor schitt’s creek will ever be the same. It’s the advantage that eugene and dan levy had, knowing these 14 episodes would be the last, enabling patrick and david to get engaged, building to this finale wedding; johnny, roland, and stevie to clinch a prosperous new business deal; moira to return to the sunny climes of sunrise bay; and alexis to say goodbye to ted and prepare for a new life in new york. We already know how it will all end; all that’s left are the goodbyes.

A lot of the heartwarming moments from schitt’s creek came from david rose (daniel levy) and patrick brewer (noah reid). They were the ship that everyone fell in love with from the word go. After the company’s bankruptcy forces david (levy) out of his glamorous lifestyle running art galleries, and alexis (murphy) out of the high-stakes world of fleeing kidnappers in dubai with an array of grecian boyfriends, they find themselves sharing a dingy motel room in schitt’s creek with no clue how to function.
