Before his adventures, bilbo was considered a very prim and respectable hobbit for his polite disposition and aversion to anything out of the ordinary. He had strict culinary and hygienic principles, being often less than thrilled with the rough conditions of travel at first. But, being the son of bungo baggins and belladonna took , bilbo had blood from two important hobbit families, the bagginses and the tooks. Because of his adventurous "tookish side" (which was sometimes conflicting with his stay-at-home "baggins side"), baggins was rather restless and "strange" for a hobbit. After his return from erebor, he was regarded much less fondly than before by his fellow hobbits, but paid them no mind. Though considering himself happily retired from adventures, he often left his home for many days to meet with old friends and strangers, including dwarves.

The party must complete the journey to lonely mountain and burglar baggins must seek out the secret door that will give them access to the hoard of the dragon smaug. And, where gandalf has got off to? and what is his secret business to the south?.

This hobbit was a very well-to-do hobbit, and his name was baggins. The bagginses had lived in the neighbourhood of the hill for time out of mind, and people considered them very respectable, not only because most of them were rich, but also because they never had any adventures or did anything unexpected: you could tell what a baggins would say on any question without the bother of asking him. This is a story of how a baggins had an adventure, found himself doing and saying things altogether unexpected. He may have lost the neighbours' respect, but he gained-well, you will see whether he gained anything in the end.

Jan 04, 2014 it's definitely no lotrbut it's still a pretty cool movie. Sure, it took it's time to try to tell the story and dragged on for a little too long, but other than that, the special effects were great, and it was entertaining as hell. It's a good introduction to the hobbit franchise.

The hobbit book, by itself, would not be possible to translate into a film without changing up and adding a few things to make it appeal to the mainstream audience. ("all good stories deserve embellishment") the hobbit was a children's story, whereas lotr was written for adults. Therefore, the lotr films didn't need "embellishment", and since the filmmakers didn't want to make the hobbit films for children, they changed things up, creating an engaging story with a deeper study into character and plot. The action is well done, and the 3d adds to it, especially in the "whitewater rafting" scene. That part and the whole movie has good editing. In this one, two of the non-king dwarfs' presence is stronger (balin and kili). The she-elf warrior tauriel and what comes with her works, adding some heart to the film.

The hobbit was somehow filmed as a trilogy (aka the hobbit: the bloating of the five pages ). The only downside to the hobbit on dvd is that the film is split on two disc, much like lotr. The blu ray does feature it on one disc, but the packaging is much better for this edition. The bluray is just a plastic blu ray case in a nice slipcase. These dvds, when opened,not only extended to roughly two feet, but here is illustrated and hand drawn artwork and maps included with each dvd. All of which are not present in any blu ray sets.

Meticulously developed over a number of years, peter jackson carried the acorn of adapting tolkien's magnum opus into live-action cinema through many hardships and navigated the challenge of selling such an ambitious project to the business brains of the industry. With the backing of new line, jackson assembled a cast that would soon etch their names into the annals of film and utilized cutting-edge filming techniques to craft a trilogy befitting in scale of tolkien's original books.

The Lord of the Rings & The Hobbit Film Series

The fantasy genre seems to be making something of a comeback. You've got the hobbit gifts the hobbit gift mug saga recently coming to a close, the hit shows game of thrones and the witcher , and the anticipated lord of the rings series set to debut on amazon prime in 2021. This renaissance can partly be traced back to the early 2000s, with the peter jackson epic based on the classic lotr novel by j. R. R. Tolkien.

As a long-time fan of lord of the rings books (including the hobbit) and then the movies, i instantly fell in love with the hobbit movie series. I have purchased blu-ray of the lotr theatrical releases, then the blu-ray of the lotr extended edition, then the hobbit theatrical releases, and then its extended edition, as well.

This set is absolutely fantastic. It's a simple, yet elegant set for fans of the theatrical editions of the films. For those that may not know, there are two editions of each film: the theatrical edition, and the extended edition. The theatrical edition is what you watched in the theater. The extended edition contains many more scenes that originally didn't make the final cut, but were added in later to expand the storytelling. This set contains the theatrical editions.
